I do have an idea that's been floating in my head, not exactly hero/villain, but not fluff either. Basil is not one to distract himself with romance, but still has, well, needs. Every so often he finds himself patronizing the brothels of London, and is disgusted with himself afterwards. The disgust with himself being the key thing here. Realistically awkward would be a great bonus:)
Good enough for the kink meme, maybe?

I was deliriously happy when I saw this prompt in the first place. I love a pairing that I can really sink my teeth into and dig up all the darkness, and these two fit that description to a T. No fluff allowed!
I love your prompt! And I can see you've read the next installment in the series, so you know that great minds must think alike. I believe I mention Basil paying a visit to a parlor of ill repute, a visit that goes disastrously awry when a certain set of scars comes into play... But I have a feeling there will be more fruitless brothel visits in the series, so stay tuned. ^_^
Thanks so much for reading and commenting! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

So basically, I love the way you did this because you absolutely nailed the characters. (Mysteriously, it's not that much darker than the movie!) Ratigan wanting to be and ever trying to act the gentleman even as he chokes on his own violent nature; Basil's enthusiasm for trying to catch him --! Even during the, er, frottage, Basil trying to distract himself with figuring out scientific facts about the things around him was absolutely perfect, and his blank response was - well, straight out of the movie!
Seriously, thank you for this story. It's going right into my memories.

And I know what you mean--- the movie is already so dark, this fic feels right at home there. Ratigan versus Ratigan--- the gentleman versus the beast--- is my very favorite thing about his character, and I'm glad you like it, too. As for Basil's movie-based catatonia, I do hope you'll give the rest of my Basil/Ratigan fics a look (it's a series!), since there's a whole fic based on that scene from the film.
You are so welcome! Thank you for leaving such a warm and generous comment! I'm always happy when one of my stories makes it into someone's memories.

HOLY SHIT this fic is utterly amazing.
I'm just... you have no idea how much I'm happy and delighted right now.
Since I was a child I always thought this movie had something different in it which I couldn't actually describe, but I liked a lot - and when once I was grown-up I watched it again I was honestly surprised by the ridiculous amount of slashable canon it had I mean seriously
I'm trying to sound coherent but be sure right now I totally AM NOT, because I hoped and waited for a fic about those two right like this, and totally didn't think it would have ever happened (because it's Disney and they're a mouse and a rat and what the hell am I thinking) and you just made me the happiest person ever ( ... )

I agree, the original itself always had a darker, more mature edge to it than most Disney movies. I was thrilled when I saw the first prompt at disney_kink because it finally gave me an excuse to explore what I'd always seen lurking in the shadows of the film. The best part has been seeing everyone else saying they saw it, too! For me, these fics feel like a group effort, and I love all of my readers for helping me with the game. ^_^
I'm SO glad you enjoyed this first installment. I hope the rest of the entries prove to be satisfactory! :D
Such generous praise. Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
