Got some questions for all the current/former college students on my f-list. Please answer, if only to calm the nerves of the soon to be freshman who has no idea what the hell's going on. And if you're not in college, just comment on how much you like the new layout.

1. I've never had a roommate, but from what I hear the most important things to set up as ground rules are (1) That you each do your dishes and throw away food-related trash asap, because that shit builds up and stinks and is gross and (2) Setting up a rule for exactly how you handle it when one of you wants to have sex and/or masturbate. My one friend had a roommate who didn't give a damn about her and would have guys over and have sex with them at all hours of the day. Even if your roommate isn't a nympho, it's still something you should probably discuss ( ... )

Haha, wow, that was SOOO long. Sorry! I'm just being a peer mentor this year so I've had to think over everything I'm going to say to my freshie mentees.

1. Ok, I only slept over for a little more than a week at a friend's dorm during finals week because there was a transit strike, so I'm not really sure. From what I can tell (and what mneiai has not mentioned), you need to be sure that both of your sleeping habits/sleeping schedules are similar, or at least you know the other's and vice versa. If both beds share the same room, you don't want a loud snorer, nor a person who stays up with the light on doing homework because he or she is a "night owl," nor a person who likes to stumble in at 4AM while saying good-bye to his/her friends loudly. If you are actually the person doing any of these three things, make sure that your roommate is cool with it/them ( ... )
