Yeah, I had that same problem the last time I moved to and from England. I only had two medium sized boxes and it nearly broke the bank. I am going to ask the people at the international office of my university to recommend some international shippers with good student rates, and will post their advice here. :)

Good luck to you! I'm still waiting on loan approval, but it sounds like you must be making good progress!

One suiticase down... one to go stann2luce July 11 2006, 12:21:31 UTC
I actually have one suitcase closed, though I know there will be one more run-through with it in about a month... just to make sure I need everything. I understand the kitchen dillema. I have a digital weighing scale that is definitely coming, and I made the decision that my brita filter can come along too.

I bought some of those space saver bags for clothes... they seem to be OK, except that they do leak air a little bit. I am bringing a binch of toiletries so I don't have to buy them over there... The exchange rate is still crap, and my school suggests bringing anything that would be cheaper at home. My pillow and blanket are also coming as well :-)

The problem I'm having is leaving books behind. Friends have offered to send them to me, but I know books are gonna cost an awful lot to ship. I'm a little worried that everything I have left to get in the last suitcase won't fit... I'll keep you all updated :-)

Last time I went over, it was temporary (only planned to stay 4 months, ended up staying 10), so I simply used luggage on the airline. Amazingly, I kept it to one giant suitcase and a small backpack as my carry-on ( ... )
