Granny: Worst Co-Worker Ever.

Aug 10, 2016 14:55

Earlier today, I was reading a statement I'd written for the local Labour Board about my last job. I've been gone from this job for some time now, but I thought I'd post some details here, since it seemed like the perfect thing to post in this comm ( Read more... )

Wow...the only thing I can say is I hope the boss snaps one day and forcibly throws that bitch out.

I so much wish you would have had a copy of that paper. Hearing about that lady getting screwed out of her bonus really gets to me because something similar happened to a family member one time. Lucky for us, the people involved got a wicked dose of karma. Hopefully the same happens in this situation.

I don't think he'll snap. She's too much of a force of nature and he's too much of a coward. He'll just hang his head around her until she dies, then he'll go a bit nuts with his newfound freedom. Or, he'll implode, since he's used to having her micromanage him and he'll have no one to do his thinking for him.

I really do hope they get a dose of karma, though. The salesperson is a single mom and she was really counting on that money, since they didn't pay her much throughout the rest of the year. She was devastated, and my heart broke for her, especially since she'd earned that money and the family member didn't. They're nothing but a bunch of lying, sneaky bastards.

WTF
A horrible family raised by horrible parents. Fit them to the glove.

(I do wonder, ho the business could go on with that kind of shit there?)

They treated their customers like gold. Granny knew how to suck up to anyone who might fork over cash. I actually think she was a psychopath, since she could just *change* when a customer showed up. I only ever saw her smile when a customer was around. The rest of the time, she had a look of disgust on her face. A few of the customers had heard stories, but none of them was allowed in the office area or warehouse (they didn't get farther than the reception area), so they never got to witness the constant verbal abuse that many of us had to endure ( ... )

Wow, that's horrible. I hope they get what's coming to them in the end. That lady losing her bonus is totally wrong.

...Wow. Just. I'm speechless. Oo

Also, I bet a lot of people are going to do a bit of happy dancing when a certain grandma's obituary shows up in the newspaper.

A large portion of an entire town will be happy from what I've heard. My ex mother-in-law grew up in the same town as Granny (she and Granny are very close in age), and according to MIL, Granny was like that right from the start. She was mean in elementary school right up through high school, and she was a huge bully. She was abusive to anyone who she thought was 'lower' than her, she backstabbed anyone who got in her way, and she was downright cruel most of the time, unless there was something in it for her, then she could be sweet as pie. She eventually had to leave, because people were throwing eggs at her house over some of the damage she'd done to a number of people. When I was talking to MIL about the job and I mentioned the last name of the family, my MIL actually gasped, and said, "They're not from (town name), are they?" When I told her that yes, they were, her first response was, "Oh my god." This was BEFORE I actually got to know Granny, so I'd been given a heads up. By then, I was months into the job and didn't ( ... )

What the FUCK.

This easily goes beyond a co worker suck and into human rights violations. I mean, that's just sick. The woman is clearly abusive and her grandson, a longtime victim, is probably damaged for life. I'm very glad that you were able to get out of that situation, I really don't think it would have improved on its own from the sound of it.

I see treating other people like shit as a human rights violation, but unfortunately, the law doesn't. Verbal abuse in the workplace is not illegal here (unless someone starts giving you shit about race, religion, sexuality, etc.). Telling someone they're stupid, worthless, 'retarded', incompetent, etc. is legal. So is standing over them and harrassing them all day. Now, that doesn't mean it's ethical, but Granny is smart enough to know exactly what she can get away with (she's been doing it for decades). She walks that fine line, but she won't cross it. She's abusive as hell, but she's not stupid ( ... )

Someone should record her in the work place ranting. Maybe she is crossing the line.
