A large portion of an entire town will be happy from what I've heard. My ex mother-in-law grew up in the same town as Granny (she and Granny are very close in age), and according to MIL, Granny was like that right from the start. She was mean in elementary school right up through high school, and she was a huge bully. She was abusive to anyone who she thought was 'lower' than her, she backstabbed anyone who got in her way, and she was downright cruel most of the time, unless there was something in it for her, then she could be sweet as pie. She eventually had to leave, because people were throwing eggs at her house over some of the damage she'd done to a number of people. When I was talking to MIL about the job and I mentioned the last name of the family, my MIL actually gasped, and said, "They're not from (town name), are they?" When I told her that yes, they were, her first response was, "Oh my god." This was BEFORE I actually got to know Granny, so I'd been given a heads up. By then, I was months into the job and didn't think I'd have to deal with her because she wasn't in town (yeah, right).

But yeah, there are a large number of people who won't miss her when she's gone.
