Women SF/Fantasy Writers

Jun 06, 2010 11:04

Taken from miladygrey, a list of women sf/fantasy writers. There were quite a few I hadn't heard of, which was kind of surprising. Maybe they write fantasy? I read much more science fiction than fantasy. Also, I added a few writers to the end of the list (I was horrified that Joan Slonczewski wasn't already represented).

Behind the cut because it's long. )

Just glancing through this, I wanna pipe up that Justina Robson and Ann Tonsor Zeddies need to be added to this list.

I really need to get back to my projects for today, but wanted to note those two that jumped out at me as being absent.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have heard of Justina Robson but I don't think I've read any of her work and I've not read anything published under the name Ann Tonsor Zeddies, but I have read Typhon's Children, which she published under the name Toni Anzetti. I liked that book a lot.

Of Robson's stuff, I very much liked Living Next Door to the God of Love. It was one of the rare post-singularity books that I thought did a good job of tackling the concept head-on. Most authors skirt the issue, or assume that the singularity doesn't happen. For this book, she based her enitre world on it. Pretty amazing. The plot was...okay? But the world- and character- building were phenomenal.

I loved Typhon's Children. So nice to run across someone else who's read it (besides mckitterick).
