Sleuth Vs. Sleuth

Sleuth (1972): starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, this is a well-acted and fascinating movie. I watched it several years ago and loved it. I wish it were available from Netflix so I could watch it again. It was one of the first movies I watched that highlighted to me how good an actor Michael Caine is. I totally loved the 1972 Sleuth. I was kinda excited when I found out about the remake (from a trailer I found on my PS3, of all places) but some quick googling indicated the internet was in agreement that it didn't even remotely live up to the original. Disappointing.

Yeah, I'd heard much the same thing before I decided to watch the remake, but I guess I hoped the internet was wrong or, maybe, that even though it wasn't as good as the original that it wouldn't as bad as it turned out to be, either.

Yup. The original is pretty damn good. I'm usually open to remakes, and I my curiosity was certainly piqued. But, your synopsis is one of the same of many. I have side-stepped this altogether.
