"Doc"

Does anyone really call their doctor "Doc" or is it just one of those trite appellations (like 'sis' and 'bro') that people use in poorly-written books or movies?

BTW, your entry made me think of how much it annoys me that people on TV shows call school principals "Principal whatever," instead of Mr. or Ms. whatever, like normal people do. Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell being the obvious exception. :P

I dunno... but I fucking LOVE your icon. <3 that show, even though I didn't even watch any of it until like January... when I watched it all. I guess its on general tv now, only severely edited. I watched half an ep at my parents house on easter, and I got saddened because they changed my favorite line from that episode :(

In the Marine Corps we called our Navy Corpsmen "Doc" especially the ones that went to the field with us.
