I find them fun :) They're my not-so-secret guilty pleasure reading.

And I'm the opposite! I could never get into the Anita Blake series. I also didn't like the main character all that much - it seemed like the author was trying too hard to make her cool.

But with Sookie, that's one of the main reasons I keep reading - I love Sookie. She's intelligent, kind, a little naive, a little quirky and she acts like an actual person might act.

>_< I am on book 5 and have up to book 7 --I CANNOT keep all those book names straight!!!-- (audiobooks because I can listen while I drive and I have NO time for pleasure reading anymore T_T) and I was contemplating if I was even going to read/ listen to the last books because it has become so confusing to keep up with all the new characters. My BFF (ha) made me watch the show with her and it hooked me because I couldn't go 5 minutes without screaming, bursting out in laughter or jumping up to turn around and hide mine eyes, MINE EYES! lol suffice to say it is fun to watch. My BFF is totally in love with Bill but I found myself routing for Eric, and reading/listening to the books, I wonder what they are going to do with Bill's character on the show - they are SO different. Now I am even more intrigued based on your last sentence LOL

I can't keep the names of the books straight either! And I find that the important characters, even if you don't remember who they are at first, she'll give you little reminders/hints throughout the text. It's like, in case you forgot who so-and-so is, he is so-and-so's brother-in-law, etc. Which is quite helpful when the public library only has like one copy of the next book and so it takes six months for you to get it after finishing the last one ( ... )
