We have been team teaching for a couple of weeks and now he is ready to take over the classroom. I didn't think it would be this hard, but I am ( Read more... )

Good that you've got LJ to at least keep you busy, anyway.

Are you rationing out his chalk? Are you preparing a script for him to use while teaching? No? You are not a control freak...just a concerned teacher. :) Well, maybe you are a little bit of a control freak, but his job as student teacher is to take it. I'm a control freak, and I think you should embrace it!

Lolz. Welcome back to Livejournal!

I'm not sure I'd say you were a control freak. You're usually pretty laid-back, but teaching is obviously something for which you really care*. So to be defensive of your class and your relationship with them isn't excessively controlling. That just means that the good teacher hasn't been beaten out of you yet.

* Initially, I wrote this as "something you really care for." but then realising I was writing it to a teacher, was compelled to correct the sentence to avoid ending it with a preposition. Why? Why would I care enough to change it? Because someone took the trouble to teach me how to do that and is still exerting an influence on me decades later. That's some powerful stuff and you're right to want to hang on to it.
