Thoughts on tonight's Lost, a BSG comparison, and other bits of randomness under the cut.

I just have a hard time being a fangirl over her and I don't know why. I mean her character hits all of my tropes, but I'm still not enamored by her. What's wrong with me?!? : (

Nothing! It might be something as simple as the actress not connecting with you in the right way.

I'm actually not in love with Patty Hewes as much as I'm in love with her relationship (whatever it is) with Ellen. But S2 is really kind of a meh season -- it's important as a transitional stage between S1 and S3, but those other two seasons are what made me love the series. (And, although I don't think damages has officially been cancelled yet, they did a great job creating a season finale for S3 that could serve as a satisfying series end. It's a great contrast to something like BSG.

I looove Tom. However, you will be very unhappy as a Tom fan in season three (which btw, is much more awesome than S2). Just to warn you.

And I totally agree on the Madeline/Nikita and Patty/Ellen comparisons. Except Madeline/Nikita was handled very poorly by TPTB, while Patty/Ellen was handled with amazing awesomeness, to the point where it became one of the main draws of the show. But yes, there are a lot of similarities.

The more that I think about Madeline and Patty the more comparisons that arise. And yes, one of the biggest failings of LFN was the way that they handled Madeline/Nikita.

Yeah, they had their little confrontation in the S4 finale and Nikita was a bit of a bitch to holo Maddy, but I still wanted something more from that relationship.

I think your idea about Lost having a BSG-style, lots of people pissed off, underwhelming ending is right on. Although I actually liked the last episode, not because it was good, but because OMG IT'S CJ CREGG!

Oh, and word on Locke becoming an unlikeable asshole. I read an article in EW with one of TPTB, and he was talking about the purpose of killing Sayid, Sun, and Jin. He said they did it to prove that Locke/Smokey is the true villain of the show. WTF? I don't think I've ever seen that many character assassinations at once...

CJ Cregg is made of win!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I'm going to have pull out my West Wing dvds.

Honestly, I think that Lost's TPTB only understands a few of its characters and that is why we are still stuck with the annoying triangle/quadrangle of doom and better characters go un-utilized like Sun/Jin having nothing to do this season but die and zombie Sayid.
