Kaito stood on the train, usual good cheer abandoned as he stared out of the window at the passing scenery, face pensive. Normally he would hide any such displeasure behind Poker Face, but he hadn't found it in himself to be bothered this morning.

-And it would also go faster if you just stopped lying to yourself-

There. There it was again.

All morning he'd been having the oddest feeling, like someone was talking just out of his hearing. Normally he'd put it down to picking up on background noise, but it had been happening since this morning, alone in his room. He couldn't be hearing such things from his room, with no one else in the house or nearby, and no radios or televisions powered on, either.

So, all morning, he'd had the niggling feeling someone was talking around him, to him, and he couldn't hear it or have the faintest clue what was happening.

"Don't you dare run, Kid!!"

Kaiko laughed as she dodged agilely from Shinichi's outstretched hand. He really was so much fun to play with! Nothing like stuffy, slow Hakuba. "Close, but no cigar, Tantei-kun!"

Shinichi growled, and had Kaiko been more serious, she would have been wary of how his focus suddenly seemed to narrow. She'd never had the occasion to be on the wrong side of Kudou Shinichi's true focus, after all - he saved that for murderers. As it was, she wasn't prepared for the move. Shinichi could, when properly motivated, move very fast.

For a very long time afterwards, she would ever deny that her Poker Face broke when Shinichi tackled her, and she would especially deny the fact that she let out a very, very feminine shriek as she fell to the concrete of the rooftop, pinned down by Shinichi straddling her, hands on her chest

"She let her usual razor grin spread across her face, and deliberately made her voice breathy and husky (perhaps taking a little less work than strictly necessary - Shinichi was very cute, after all). "Why, Tantei-kun, we haven't even kissed yet! You haven't even offered me dinner on all of our dates!"

Indeed, fem!Kaiko name is unimaginative. I wonder what happens if Ran saw this...
