"Am annoyed by all the martial arts B.S. posturing that goes on, in my own style as well as others."

Yeah. Frankly, where one's martial art comes from just isn't even remotely as important as what you do. I really do like our school and our art and (most of) its people, but I know damn well it ain't perfect (know only too well, unfortunately). I'm sure there are other good schools out there. There's also a lot of crap out there. It really doesn't matter so much to me because I've found a place I like, and all the "our art is better than yours" discussion in the MA community just irritates me, so I ignore it.

Yeah, used to love the art and everybody in it, believing it was almost "perfect." But a certain situation on the Korea trip (which is the boy's story to tell, not mine, if he hasn't already told you), reminded me of the fact that, even the highest ranks in our art are still people, and therefore fundamentally flawed. This doesn't mean they're evil, but they do make mistakes every once in a while - or at least do things I don't like :P

It's like when I realized one day that my dad wasn't all-knowing and perfect either. I've come to accept that, and I still love him.

I sort of think of training in a martial art as akin to a marriage (heh heh). You know your spouse isn't perfect, and neither are you. So you do your best to make the best of it, and accept the fact that you'll have to deal with some things you don't necessarily like, because you love them and want to spend the rest of your life with them, regardless of those "flaws."
