In case you didn't know, the Eurovision Song Contest has a Junior Version. I don't actually watch it because watching sugar sweet acts with rabidly smiling kids gives me diabetes. Of course now I had to listen to a bunch of the Junior Eurovision songs. XD (I actually kind of like the Belgian song, except for the yodeling, omgwhut.) The Russian entry is actually kind of creeping me out -- both the style, which is, like, virtually indistinguishable from the style of grown up pop-songs, and the content, which, near as I can tell, is a girl pining for and planning to stalk the Little Prince. O.o

The contestants are really cute IMO, especially the wee Belgian girl. It's just when they start dancing and grinning that I just have to look away. XD

I just checked out the Russia vid and it had subtitles in English. You appear to be correct, LOL.
(This reminds me, I should finally read The Little Prince. I can imagine that this song becomes even more wtf-worthy when you actually know the story)

It definitely does make it wtf-worthy. Like, I'm a kid who had crushes on all kinds of literary characters. But I cannot even imagine a world in which the Little Prince would be one of them.

The contestants were all really cute! Especially the Belgian girl, I would concur. She also looks a lot both like a non-Belgian friend of mine and my (Belgian) niece (though my niece is a lot older now). It was a little weird. I love the sunflower accents in her video, too, her hair things and her skirt and stuff. But the yodeling... XP

Oh wow, that first one (the Netherlands one) is just too hilarious. Like... the costumes, that kid's hairstyle, the Be-dabe-die-du's...

The Belgium one is super cute, though!

Hah, I know. I'll grant him his intense dance moves (I, for one, cannot do flipflops like that) but yeah.

The Belgian girl is really cute but I can't get over the yodeling. It's so random and er, not really what I'd expect to come out of Belgium. (I liked the Tin Tin cameo in the introduction, though!)

I don't care who said it, "ZOMG WE WON. For the first time in 33 years we won some kind of Eurovision Song Contest," is hilarious - and I don't even understand the context, because we don't know anything about Eurovision in the States. Your recap makes me snicker. :)

The Eurovision Song Contest has been on tv since the fifties, it's a yearly, well, song contest. It used to be just West European countries but since the inclusion of a ton of East European countries things have been rather strained, because of the idea that East Europeans keep voting on each other and spamming with "All show, no talent". (The Netherlands hasn't even been able to get through the semi-finals, it's pretty bad. But, er, I think we deserve it. Our acts suck. >.>)
And all that bitching for a low quality campy song contest. But it's great entertainment (both the acts and international whining), at least for me.
