Plane Is the Buzzword

May 11, 2006 12:30

I have some good news and some bad news, but the bad news is made irrelevant by the good news.

I e-mailed Rob:

Any idea how Dawn or any of the important people in the CW are reacting to this? Have they opened their care boxes? I think you should probably be getting yours today. If I remember correctly, you and Kristen are getting the cool Hearst ( Read more... )

Woooo! Awwwww! Yaaaaaay! Awwwwwwwwesome!

All we wanted was people to know about it. That's all that matters. I'm so psyched that Rob is psyched and tonight I'm gonna imagine Joel Silver walkin' around in his Veronica Mars hat talking to Dawn Ostroff who is wearing her Veronica Mars t-shirt and they are both spying on Rob with their Veronica Mars binoculars while Rob, who went and picked up his package, is doing "I love fandom" cheers with his Veronica Mars pom poms.

I KNOW! I mean, I don't know what people at these parties normally talk about, but I doubt they usually talk about the crazy fans who watch their shows.

Exactly! They probably talk about the next script they're producing, or what star signed on to be the lead in their new show. Not fan campaigns! And not all during a party. Man, we rule. Hee! I think it was definitely something that'll make advertisers and execs notice. Me? Giddy. Yep.

Awesome. I love this because somehow it makes renewal feel that much more likley (knock on wood). It's just hard to see them talking about the stunt pulled by the crazy VM fans at a party, and then cancelling the show when they get to work. Seems like this really could be in their heads convincing them they've got to give it a shot.

Yeah, it's definitely a good sign (unless Rob left out the part where EVERYONE was laughing their asses off at the futility of it all...). Even if they were already planning on renewing, I think this made them feel better about their decision.

Ack! I fear the mocking!

Question because I know nothing about the "biz" but if there were executives or whatever there, were these studio executives or network executives and does that make a difference? Like, I think it's cool that the WB liked the plane and what not because it promotes a show they own and are soon trying to sell on bittorrent so even if it wasn't picked up, they'd still be happy right? I just get lost in all the who cares about what thing for what reason stuff.

He said both network and studio execs. I don't think the studio execs matter in the renewal decision, though.
