- My tulips and daylilies are already coming up. While this whole mild winter thing is great for the fact that my parsley never died back this year, I'm going to be moderately annoyed if my tulips come up and bloom early, only to be killed off by some frost or something.

is it really *bad* to wash with the standard detergents, since, well, the high efficiency detergent doesn't come in the frou frou fruity scent I like.

Not that I've ever seen -- you just use less of it. Lots less. Neither our laundry nor our washing machine has ever complained about ours, anyway. :)

And yay trees! And yay new washer and dryer! That dryer sounds awesome. :D

Oh fun! So not only can I still use my fruit-smelling detergent, but I use less and will have to buy it less often? The hits just keep on comin'!

Thank you!

Experience says that you can use normal detergent in the front-loader, just very very little of it - like 1/3 of the normal amount. (And experience also says that I can use the same amount in a top-loader as I did in the front-loaders and still get my clothes clean, which is nice to know now that I have a top-loader.)
