- My tulips and daylilies are already coming up. While this whole mild winter thing is great for the fact that my parsley never died back this year, I'm going to be moderately annoyed if my tulips come up and bloom early, only to be killed off by some frost or something.
- Speaking of gardening, though -- check this out. See this:
That's a Japanese Red Quince. When I bought it, it was a mere stick. It'd been marked down at Home Depot to $1.00. I rescued both of the pitiful specimen they had, figuring that if they remained stick-like (and nothing more) that I wasn't out too much.
But lo, they have not only leaves, but also flowers, and if I'm skillful, they may one day bear fruit! Hwee!
- Last week,
elsrik and I went to Lowe's, where he said. "Okay, pick the ones you want. First week of February they're yours."
Whazzat?
She and
her companion. And hey, since we'll be moving the old ones out of the laundry room, this is a perfect opportunity to redo the floor. Be gone, ugly linoleum! Hello better quality (and individually replaceable if necessary) vinyl tiles!
No more stupid agitator to get caught on my laundry! No more side-by-side washers taking up ridiculous amounts of space in the laundry room! And the dryer even has a little stationary rack in it, so if I'm brave (and I am) I can put delicate things/sweaters on the stationary rack, turn on the "air" cycle, and safely dry delicate things in the dryer in an efficient manner.
I have to figure out high efficiency detergent, though. I know it suds less than the standard detergent, but is it really *bad* to wash with the standard detergents, since, well, the high efficiency detergent doesn't come in the frou frou fruity scent I like.
- I bought a Venus fly trap. His name is Baby. He's not dead yet.
- I need to do an update on the Chagrin Valley soaps, but the quick version is that the Rhassoul Yogurt complexion bar is still kicking my ass with its awesome, and the shampoo bars are still working wonderfully, though I do find that if I don't use the apple cider vinegar rinse, my hair gets a little greasy.
