to be honest i liked my cafeteria food. it didn't taste like gourmet and it wasn't like anything you got at the store, it had its own distinctive taste.

We had sandwiches whose bread we could eat with a straw.
We had pizzas that were burned on one side and frozen on the other.
There was usually hair in my food and unless it's curly, I rarely complain to this very day.

For two and a half years in high school, my daily lunch consisted of an order of french fries (50 cents), five of the hands-down BEST chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten (15 cents each) and a container of chocolate milk (45 cents). I had paper cups full of quarters and dimes in my locker with which to make up my $1.70 for lunch.

But those cookies....man. I have not encountered cookies like that anywhere before or since. *nostalgic*

We had crappy lunches. About 2 or 3 years after I graduated though, they updated the cafeteria and had different lines which is more like a college dining hall. Once a month we had Pizza Hut. That was our highlight.
