He finds himself working on a 60-year-old's watch, a grandmother clock for some lady who came in giggling with her boyfriend--
This is what it's like to be miserable.
And, yes, actually, he's still wearing the Gabe-garb. Glasses, sweater-vest, pleated pants... the whole package. No one looks twice.
Almost... bitterly ironic. It's as if he could predict the future. And he didn't even have to paint anything for this!
