I faced the near-certainty of spending the rest of my life alone and filed for divorce. It was either that or lose myself- and it was a tougher choice than you would think. I lost my best friend of 24 years, my partner of 20+, and my husband of 12. I don't think I will ever recover fully.

Well, if by recover you mean become the person you used to be, then the answer is no. You can't be her again any more than you can be 18 again. This is a painful yet necessary step in becoming who you are now and who you will yet be.
