sometimes I use some news or pics for the forum/blog, but i always credit the journal. If you look, you can find your banner in our "source/credit place". If it's ok, i keep the banner in "main source" and i post all your stuff without crediting every single post, if it's not ok, i control all the posts and i add also there the link to the LJ.
anyway, i made a mistake and I'd like to ask forgiveness to Lessy 37, yesterday i changed the graphic of the blog and i took 2 icons from her journal. I saved them, i credit her work and i put the link to her journal in the blog, but i made a mistake and i hotlinked the icons. when I discovered my mistake was too late. i'm so sorry!!! I didn't want to do that, believe me! I wanted to re-post them. Sorry, sorry, sorry! hope you can forgive me!!!

if you find other mistake alla over the forum or blog, please, let me know it! i don't want to break any rules.

You are one of our affiliates, dear, and I recognize the forum (but did not know about the blog). And yes, I knew you were crediting us for re-posting images. That is perfect and no mistake on your part. Thank you for that!

The hotlinking is a seperate issue though. I pay a fee for my server space as I have graphic heavy websites and need a lot of space online. So all of my icons are hosted on that paid server (www.elessarsrealm.com). So when people hotlink, they are using my paid bandwidth and if too many people do it, costs me money for exceeding my allowed bandwidth. So I get upset over hotlinking to my own personal server. I am always flattered when people save my work and use it elsewhere - as long as they host it on their own photo sharing service and do credit me for the work. So that is all I ask and it is my explanation for why I did pull icons last night. I was not aware it was you on that blog or I would have simply sent you a message about it. And of course I accept your apology, dear. Thank YOU for explaining what had

I know that people don't like the hotlink because they pay the server, so i don't want to do that. It's not right and so i'm very sorry for yesterday even if it was only a mistake! anyway i'm glad that everything's allright!
I know that i'm your affiliate, but you know, after a message like yours i wanted to be sure about my way to re-post.
The blog is part of the forum, it is just a faster source for the news. You know, sometimes people don't find the news (too lazy for looking everywhere in the forum ^_^) . If you want to add it as affiliate you can, your banner is in the blog source, but it's the same thing of the forum so...

No worries, dear. I understand it was just a mistake. So everything is fine! You were not the reason for this mod post either...if that helps to ease your mind too. Just keep doing what you are doing!! And thank you for the support!

I often read about people 'hotlinking', now you can call me computer challenged, but could you explain in the plainest of terms exactly what 'hotlinking' is. Please no technical blurb, I would hate to be inadvertently 'hotlinking' thanks in anticipation xx

I will do my best to explain it. Probably the most common way people 'hot link' is when they find an icon/avatar they like posted in someone's LJ or blog and they copy the properties of that icon into a forum to use it in their profile (usually under: Link to Offsite Avatar). Or if you are on a pc, right-clicking and copying the properties of a posted image and pasting that into your own LJ or blog to share the image instead of saving the image to your computer and then uploading it to your own server or free image hosting service ( ... )

Thanks Lessy, I think the penny has finally dropped, it's ok to right click and save to my computer, but don't ever right click, copy and paste unless I'm using an Image Hosting thingy- yes!!
