I'm now incredibly curious about aromatherapy and writing. I write really well when I have Earl Grey with me, but when I'm on a roll sometimes I'll just write and write and not be drinking it, and now I'm wondering if maybe it's the bergamot that helps and not drinking it and am wondering if I should invest in something with a bergamot smell to try to prod me to write.
Yeah, citrus in general tends to help with energy and focus. Bergamot's another of my alertness/focus scents, and I really like peach and apricot in general, so I have another one I like that's bergamot, heliotrope and peach.
Do you (or anyone else reading) know of a good way to sort BPALs by ingredients? I'm now curious to find something with both bergamot and sandalwood to try- I've always wanted to get into it, haven't yet- but wasn't sure if I just have to read every page or if there's a good sort system or something.
You can try going to the Forum and searching the reviews for scents, or searching for scents on BPAL's own website. They've changed some things, so I'm not sure how it will work, but you can also, if you're okay with being mobbed by many scented happy people, post in the forum and ask for suggestions for scents with X note, and you will get replies. Lots. There's a lot of very nice people there with frighteningly encyclopedic memories for what notes and in which scents for BPAL.
I cannot tell you how much it helps that you blog about your struggles and successes in writing. I always read them and go, "What??? I'm not alone? CLEO STOLE MY FEELINGS." Or something.
I'm not terribly fond of lavender myself, although I like it because it's old-fashioned. Sometimes it's too strong, or comes across too sweet and musty.
THIS IS TRUE. also i'm really interested in aromatherapy, and your "oil on hands while typing" method sounds AWESOME, and like something i definitely want to try now. *__*
