I'm not terribly fond of lavender myself, although I like it because it's old-fashioned. Sometimes it's too strong, or comes across too sweet and musty.
Seriously. We all thought she was doing an extraordinarily good job of leading us on. And yes, we're in Texas.
But she was just being honest. She thought she'd seen it in the store a few times, but it was too expensive (!) and her family had never had it. Never fear, she was well-educated last Labor Day. :)
If I had money, I would so commission something from you 8D A friend of mine make things like masks, fairy wings, and other RenFair-related accoutrements; something from her and something from you would pull together into a sweet outfit.
Wow. You can't walk two steps without running into a brisket around here! Heck, when I go to Busch Gardens, the ritual is that we HAVE to go to the New France Smokehouse and get a smoked brisket/ribs/chicken platter.
We picked up a pre-made brisket at Sam's Club a few months ago and it sparked conversations in the checkout line amongst all the brisket fans. Which is apparently everyone in Sam's Club. XD
One thing's for damn sure: I'll take brisket over lutefisk any day! (Regional stereotypes FTW?)
What weirded me out mostly is that I didn't know brisket was a regional thing. It just IS! The hard part is finding one that's actually good - the right balance of meat and fat. Some are so fatty they're virtually inedible.
Lutefisk... if it weren't for the internet, I wouldn't even recognize that word. :p
No worries. :) The problem, if there is any, is with me! I'm not stereotypically Texan, so I was doubly surprised: first, that she didn't know about it, and second, that I didn't know it was regional! I thought I was a bit more cosmopolitan than that...

That... doesn't even register in my brain.

But then, I am from Texas, the land of BEEF BEEF AND BEEF (and enchiladas), so a world without brisket is sad and scary.
