Phew! New Moon Fails to Break Opening Weekend Record. So The Dark Knight is safe. However:

Instead, after clinching the Best Midnight Opening record and Best Opening Day record, New Moon will have to settle for third on the Best Opening Weekend list after walking away with a pretty astonishing $140 million when it was all said and done ( Read more... )

Oh yes it was. T_T It was the only Spiderman film I decided to see in the theatres and, boy, did I regret it.

That movie was atrocious, mostly for all the damnedable mush. I think I left after a while, cause I don't remember the ending. 8D

I ended up paying full price to see it, so I was forced to sit there and endure it to the melodramatic end. That, and my friends were my ride home.

And now they're making a 4th one. Man, I had no idea film-making was so cheap that they could waste material and time like that.

I'm not sure about their prediction that Eclipse will do even better (much less TWICE as good). Between the overkill of two films coming out within 7 months of each other and the fact that the field for escapist popcorn stuff is MUCH wider in the summer, surely (SURELY!) that will slow down the crazy train.

Awesome opening. Makes me think of 1984's Little Shop of Horrors. :)

I have just had the realization that if someone attends New Moon four or five times in the opening weekend as there was discussion of in your last entry, and they buy a drink and candy/popcorn, they could easily spend around $100 in a single weekend to see a really shitty movie.

D: I say again, D: .

You could get sixth row theatre seats for that much. Damn.

I'm one of those absurd film buffs who will see films they like, no matter how shitty good films twice (or, alas, I used to be, since I'm totally broke now). I think, as a teenager, I'd sometimes see something I really loved five three times, so when someone says they'll see a movie, one, twice, a thousand times, I try not to judge.

... $100 for one film makes my bankrupt mind spin. The DVD will be out in a month or two. At least teenage-me had the excuse of the VHS (!!) only coming out almost a year later. $100 in (just about) one go? For one film?

Dude. I know you don't care. But I will judge you hard.

I went once and snuck in my own food and drink cause the line was too long to buy food without missing part of the movie. I did go in the evening though, thus spending a few bucks more than the matinee I would normally attend.
