Sigh.

So someone else has run off and reposted my work (this time, it's Twilight in Fifteen Minutes. NO DOGPILING, Y'ALL). I don't go looking for this stuff, because honestly, if I started trying to police the internet--which I did try for a little while, back when I was first writing these things--I would never, ever get anything else done. But I feel ( Read more... )

let me tell you internets, plagiarism, let me apologize in advance, oh dramatize, oh hell no, tribulations, m15m

One click and you get her facebook page with her name...In this day and age, where prospective employers often run checks through the internet, she is doing herself a major disservice carrying on like this.

Things like that are my one comfort in this day and age of over indulged asshats. :)

MTE. I thought (hoped, rather) that she was a 13 yo kid who didn't know better. She's 19 which means she's either going to work soon or to uni; either way, with her attitude, she's not going to have an easy time in any place.

Yay for pre-emptive schadendreude.

Oh LORD, really? And here I was thinking that people who run around going "It's the Internet! Nothing is sacred!" were the unfortunate side effect of drilling into kids that it's the INTERNET, nothing is PRIVATE, so don't be surprised when your teachers come down on you for talking smack about them on your completely unprotected social networking page. Turns out, even THAT interpretation was giving her too much credit.

Of course you CARE about it Cleo. It's your work, your time, your energy, your humor. No one wants someone else to get credit for their work! Honestly, that happens to me at work quite often and I want to shoot people in the foot for it. Maybe that's excessive, idk.

Anyway, my point is this: don't beat yourself up for caring. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being protective of your work. I'm sorry that you are feeling so crummy and unable to fight. But you can know that there are scads and scads of people here who've got your back.

Weren't you doing the summaries over the spring and summer? I'm just wondering how she found it on a bulletin a year ago...

How time flies. But yeah, regardless, she's being an assjerk (because why would it be so hard to add a brief link back to you, like the mods were asking?) and you've got no reason to feel bad about caring.

Wow, this sucks. I'm really sorry you're having to deal with this on top of everything else. You being upset about it is completely understandable. You worked hard on it and now someone else is taking the credit? I think your icon sums it up nicely. (It also has the added effect of making me wish LOST was already back on)

I'm glad someone has your back on this. And I'm sure all your readers respect you enough to keep all this polite and respectful. Even if this girl didn't.

LOL. Awesome.

Can't take credit for the icon, although I wish I could. I found it here, in a land of awesome icons:

Keeping on subject, don't worry. I asked her permission before I snagged it. :-)
