Wow, y'all. I need an internet brain vacation. The problem is, I don't have time for one--I have GOT to finish these annotations; it's just not even funny anymore, how long it's taking me. (Also, my grandmother's icemaker broke, and when she opened the freezer door, water poured out and ruined her old kitchen floor and now the tiles are twisting ( Read more... )

On a somewhat related note, on Saturday my roommate and several others decided that Marky Mark's Good Vibrations needs to overtake RickRolling.

(I spent my entire childhood and adolescence completely immune to the charms of boy bands, which made me the weirdest girl in fifth grade)

Me too! I was 11 during the whole Backstreet Boys/N'SYNC thing and could not stand either of them. Of course I now love both of them for the camp factor. I got to see Backstreet Boys in concert this summer and it was honestly one of the campiest, best concerts I have been to in my life. (I was also terrified I was going to witness the tragic death of Nick Carter, who had to have been on something from the way he was jumping around.)

See, I was 11 during the whole (original) New Kids on the Block thing; BSB/N'Sync was my sister.

My sister had a thing for NKOTB. They didn't do anything for me, but that's not surprising obviously.

Oh Step by Step! I only vaguely remember the video since, like you, I was not on the boy-band wagon at that time in my life..HOWEVER I recently saw the New Old Kids on the Block preform that song on some daytime talk show as part of their "reunion" tour. They did all the dancing and then during the count down they held the mics out to the audience to have them shout the lyrics back to them, BUT NO ONE REMEMBERED THE WORDS...It was both the saddest and most beautiful thing I have ever seen...

Just so you know when they sing that song now it's even better! I wish I could find a good video of it from the tour.

I was in jr. high when New Kids was big and I didn't like them at all. I had tons of friends that did though so I had to hear about them on a regular basis. The running man dance they were doing was making me laugh though. I remember doing that shit. Also I think I blocked out how fugly Danny was.

See, for me it's the elbow wag/finger point thing. That is so classic.

That, and Jordan's (is it Jordan?) overalls.
