Halloweeeeeeeen

Here's what I love: BellSouth insists that internet woes are a problem on my end, despite the fact that my internet is slow or out at the same time every day (with additional, random outages), which would suggest to me that it's THEIR PROBLEM, and THEIR NETWORK, because it's not like my modem's just going to be like, "I don't like afternoooooons, ( Read more... )

Are they going to send you another modem? It seems kind of weird for them to say, "it's your modem" and not try to help you fix it by replacing the modem. At which point, when the problem still hasn't gone away, you have proof that it wasn't the modem. I guess they're not going to do anything about it until you've proven to them that they're wrong.

I think they think it's hooked up incorrectly or something, or that it's actually something wrong with my computer, and they're just going to keep telling me stupid ways to unplug and replug things until one of us kills the other.

Here's the thing: the outages have been fewer and fewer over the last couple of days, and the only one I had today was... this afternoon, when they were probably working on the line. I think they may have been trying to buy time to fix the problem on their end without actually admitting it.

Well I'm glad things are returning to normal, but it sounds like BellSouth are Grade "A" Fuckwits, which is the kind of Fuckwit which complies with the applicable provisions of the US FDA/CFSAN Pasteurized Fuckwit Ordinance.

Re: Lyra's hair. There is a part in the book where Mrs. Coulter has Lyra all dolled up for a party. I'm pretty certain that's what the shot is from.

To be fair, there are other official pictures that show Lyra with curly, shoulder length brown/blonde hair. (the original NA cover for Subtle Knife, I think) Which is what I always pictured her with from reading, anyway.

Just a tip: if you smear a little Vaseline on the cut/exposed parts of your punkin, it'll last longer and won't curl or get yucky looking as fast. That way, you can leave it out until at least Christmas, like my neighbors do. ;)
