No, I think the Ambulo-whatsit evolved INTO the Bausilosaur-whatsit. Hence, the B-one's itty bitty feeties. And then later they populated the ocean with the mid-size model -- whales.

Of course, if crocs and sharks can tough out the epochs, why not Ambulo-whatsits?

Makes sense in my liberal arts brain. Savvy?
