Teresa Nielsen Hayden collects the day's jokes and pranks (thanks, particle_person). Ask Peeves is probably my favorite so far.

And before we get any further, you should know this: I loathe April Fool's Day. Mostly it goes back to a childhood joke ("Hon, we're trading you to the other softball team") my father played on me that actually made me cry (and he still kept going! didn't let up until my mother went after him!), but it was no picnic running a movie news site on April 1, either. On some of the sites I covered (you will recall--or not--that the purpose of my site was to post a breakdown of about fifty websites' movie news for the day), the writers were good enough that you could tell they were joking by the end of the story, and you could figure out what they were spoofing. Other people either couldn't get the joke across, or just didn't want to and spread actual misinformation. And then there were the stories you'd read and just assume they had to be fakes: "Remaking House of Wax? With Paris Hilton? Oh, shpfffff, good one!" You'd end up putting out the rumor fires for weeks afterwards.

All of this is a really roundabout way of saying: if you so much as look at me cross-eyed today, I will stab you.

P.S. I'ma see Sin City in four hours! WHEE!
