Let's mix it up with some movie reviews.

As far as books go, I'm right in the middle of reading The Maze Runner right now, and I LOVE IT. But I'll get to that once I finish it.

For now, I figure I've seen 8 movies over the past 2 months. Let me talk about them.

Monsters University, Much Ado About Nothing, This is the End, The Heat, Pacific Rim, Despicable Me 2, R.I.P.D., Turbo )

You and I usually have completely opposite tastes in movies, don't we? ^_^ I think it's pretty much the same here ( ... )

The more i see previews for them, the more I'm excited about Percy Jackson and the less I am about Elysium. Maybe because they keep saying its by the same folks who made district 9, and I really didnt care for that movie. It was just so brutal. Not like... Like i know i love movies with fighting in them, but it's different, somehow. its hard to explain. I wonder if we could get percy from a red box or on one of the various streaming things we've got between us so that we could go see that one instead and save Elysium for dvd or something. As for planes, when cars came out it took me a year or two to see it because i was like, well that seems like a terrible movie clearly made to sell car toys. but it really surprised me with how much i liked it when i finally gave it a chance, so I have some small hopes that planes will be worthwhile ( ... )

I would totally be up for trying to get ahold of the first Percy Jackson movie and watching that instead of Elysium. I have that Jack and the Beanstalk miniseries as my netflix disk right now, but I could return that and we could get it at a later date if you want.

I have to run now, so I can't comment on the rest, but there's that!

Cool! I put it on my queue, so I'll go ahead and send the other one back, and put it back on my queue later.

Three of those aren't out over here yet, and I missed Much Ado About Nothing. *scowls* But we're taking the kids to see Monster's University once school finishes, and we'll hopefully see The World's End this weekend. Then it's The Wolverine (meh), Kick-Ass 2 (yay!) and the next Percy Jackson, which Erin is dying to see - she's just finished reading all the books and almost keeled over in excitement just watching the trailer. :P

For what it's worth, I definitely recommend the first Kick-Ass. And the first Percy is pretty good, too. It's no Harry Potter but it's entertaining enough. :)

P.S. Have you seen The Lone Ranger? I hear it bombed over there. I'm curious as it's not out here until next month.

I did see the second half of the first Kick Ass movie, but I wanted to see the whole thing, and the person I go see movies with hasn't seen it at all, so that's why we're waiting on that one. I had heard a lot of negative things about it when it first came out, and I think it's because people wanted a fun romp, and that's not what they got. But from what I saw, I liked it a lot, and I'm really looking forward to the second one, even if I'm not seeing it in the theatre ( ... )

Yeah, Kick-Ass certainly wasn't what I expected it to be but I thought it was a great movie. I'm hoping the sequel is just as good ( ... )
