There is one day a month that I would infinitely prefer death to standing upright, and today was that day. This is only a slight exaggeration, in that I have spent long hours discussing with my doctor what options I have to not experience awful cramping of the sort where I don't even feel good enough to go get the pain killers and a hot water ( Read more... )

NWLB is a neat program...I considered it myself, but I thought they limited what you could study to something that is "in-demand" and I wasn't sure what that covered. :)

It sounds like NWLB covers a lot of different programs -- the best thing to do is to call and ask if what you want to do is covered. I just walked in and said,"I wanna do this," and they said,"Cool with us."

Funny thing, I was thinking about going back to school for an Education degree (specifically special education) and I was just checking out the NWLB site...turns out that is listed as in high demand in our county. I may have to look into this....

So please keep us posted, since I haven't been through the process and any info/tips would be helpful. :)

At this point, the most difficult part was just getting the paperwork together. Go to Michigan Works, get the paperwork list, submit it. It can't hurt you, and can only help. It takes four months or so to get the paperwork through and get your money.
