Great drabble, I love it.
Dealing with depressed Buffy is never easy: I hate when the authors judge her behaviour, because even if she's destructive she can't really help herself and she destroyes herself, in a way she wouldn't allow other people to.

I love Buffy so much and I always tried to empathize with her. Having compassion for a character and the intense circumstances they find themselves in isn't the same as condoning that behavior (in Buffy's case, both self-destructive and abusive). I think some fic writers get clouded by that and are in such service to Spike or whomever that they can't see the real issues that underlay the relationship. Buffy isn't a bad person, but she is deeply flawed. It doesn't mean she should be demonized for it. It's more interesting to dig and get the crux of why this was all going on. /end rant
