FRINGE

So I've been burning through ebooks on my kindle...and some real books too, but the reason for the kindle is that for some reason, it's super easy to read something on a kindle and go on long walks at the same time while still managing to dodge obstacles/other pedestrians. I have more of a tendency to either walk into things or lose my place in the ( Read more... )

It's very timely that you brought up Fringe. I just spent the last two weeks on a Netflix binge of Fringe. I had never watched it before but have thoroughly enjoyed it. I still have the last episode to watch, which I am kind of putting off because then it will be over. Fringe has actually gotten me through a pretty crappy couple of weeks. I mean, at least I've never been experimented on by a couple of mad scientists or kidnapped from an alternate universe or erased from the timeline. Puts things into perspective.

Hmm. I felt like the pacing of the Amber verse was weird. I was okay with the fact that Peter getting erased from the timeline changed everything, and I would have been upset if it hadn't. My biggest issue with it was that Olivia just all at once remembered the other timeline. I get that Olivia was being dosed with the cortexiphan and that her abilities were being cranked up to 11, but it was so abrupt. I might have figured out another way to let her remember so that it felt less rushed ( ... )

I mean, I'm still all for physical books. There's something very tactile and nice about a physical book. But on the other hand, ebooks are just a lot easier to read in a lot of situations.

I didn't even know that they had any sort of other media outside of the main show, mostly because of how small the show was. But I guess they're just doing some in canon exploration of stuff before that never got clarified on in the show (like joining the X-men?).

Ahhh, Fringe. I still miss that show, for all its ups and downs toward the end. It was just such a good show, and Olivia. And other people, but a lot of Olivia.

It turned out not to be the x-men. Heh. But it was really good, in that it was filled with one of my favorite things: people trying to control or use or hurt Olivia, and Olivia kicking them in the face. Well, not exactly that, but you know. Her strength and resolve and the way she faces so many terrible things and never gives up.

Ohh, that's possibly a first instance I've heard of a tie-in novel being actually decent. Or at the least, good in respect to characterization.
