FRINGE

So I've been burning through ebooks on my kindle...and some real books too, but the reason for the kindle is that for some reason, it's super easy to read something on a kindle and go on long walks at the same time while still managing to dodge obstacles/other pedestrians. I have more of a tendency to either walk into things or lose my place in the ( Read more... )

It's very timely that you brought up Fringe. I just spent the last two weeks on a Netflix binge of Fringe. I had never watched it before but have thoroughly enjoyed it. I still have the last episode to watch, which I am kind of putting off because then it will be over. Fringe has actually gotten me through a pretty crappy couple of weeks. I mean, at least I've never been experimented on by a couple of mad scientists or kidnapped from an alternate universe or erased from the timeline. Puts things into perspective.

Hmm. I felt like the pacing of the Amber verse was weird. I was okay with the fact that Peter getting erased from the timeline changed everything, and I would have been upset if it hadn't. My biggest issue with it was that Olivia just all at once remembered the other timeline. I get that Olivia was being dosed with the cortexiphan and that her abilities were being cranked up to 11, but it was so abrupt. I might have figured out another way to let her remember so that it felt less rushed ( ... )

You were right. The first one was really good! But I'm not surprised, considering who the author is. I haven't had a chance to read the others yet, but I'll get to it soon.

I finished the last episode last night. I was terrified of an unhappy ending, but I was relieved to find it wasn't. Olivia and Peter get their life back with Etta, and Walter got to atone for his sins. I was quite pleased, considering how much weaker 4th and 5th season were over all.

I felt that it was a good ending for the show I was watching, if not for the show I had been watching, if that makes sense.

My biggest real quibble with (ETA: the last season) it was that it should have been Olivia who made the choice to shoot herself. Either by subtly nodding or indicating to walter or SOMETHING, because they'd had several seasons dealing with her taking back her own choices in the face of people trying to use her, violate her agency. It would have been in character, it would have made sense, and it wouldn't have left me feeling like Olivia was sidelined into the damsel in her own story. (ETA: and I kind of had that feeling in general through out the end of 5. Like I liked 5 a lot, but I felt the emphasis had shifted away from Olivia in a lot of ways).
