Yay, we are back in Brigadoon. That is, at the Boston SF movie marathon, a village of weirdos that gathers annually to watch 24 hours of sci fi. I believe I will live blog it, but not serial posting. I'll keep editing this post, then do one more when I'm done.

I grew up with the Orson Welles...my dad would drive down with me from NH to see foriegn and indie flicks there as there wasnt a hell of alot going on in Concord NH. I later went on my own, and Jack's music club across the street

rmd was reminiscing about Jack's... I was never there, or at the Orson Welles, alas. Just a couple decades of 'thon at the Coolidge, in Dedham, and at the Somerville. (I feel like I'm missing one venue, but I can't think what.)

Holy crap, the Somerville added 70mm projection capability? They must be the only theater in the whole country to do that in the last ten years. Last I checked, not even the Kendall had that.

70mm is a cinematic experience that makes 1080p seem rinkydink. Remember when we saw Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm? I was beginning to fear I'd never see the likes of that again.

It's enough to make me want to move back to Somerville, just for the theater.

Isn't that awesome? They don't have it yet; depressingly, it's hard to get all the pieces together these days. But sometime this year, promises the projectionist (well, the programflight plan calls him Jedi Booth Master, but that's the 'thon for you).

I *think* the Coolidge has 70mm? But yeah, it's fab that the Somerville is *adding* it.
