It is. I mean...what do you do when a person simply refuses to listen to any sort of reason? I hate standing by and watching them crash and burn, and that's exactly what I'll have to do. :(

I think it's especially heartbreaking when it's family -- as a child, you kind of grow up with the opinion that Mummy and Daddy know everything, and if you have to see how someone totally goes off on a tangent and does things which could end up causing a world of harm, it breaks the heart of the little trusting kid inside me.

And here it's not just her who'll be affected, but also your Dad, and probably also you and your immediate family. It seems so unfair to me that you'll have to pick up the broken pieces.

Well, that's what family's for. What choice have I?

wow. that sucks! maybe you'll be able to settle out of court, to avoid you mom being on the stand? what are the criteria for declaring someone unfit? b/c reckless endangerment of livelihood would not be hard to prove here. maybe your dad can be convicned of that path?

whatever happens, *MASSIVE HUGS*

I don't know that we really want to settle out of court. That might be what this lady is hoping for. She was in the wrong in so many ways (she's the one who hit my mom, was uninsured and driving on a suspended license), so there's a chance (I hope, anyway) that they'll get a judge that will throw the case out.

I don't really know what it takes to declare someone unfit. I mentioned that to dad this morning, but all he said was that he wasn't going to deal with it. He was leaving it up to her. That's scary enough in itself, so I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the rest of it just now.

*Hugs back* Thanks - I needed that.
