Glad to have you back! ext_689652 July 3 2013, 04:02:26 UTC
Officially, I mean.

Yes, Jo is a fluffy bunny. And I totally wanted to hear that squeak you made.

Yay for a review post from you! And with the story this icon comes from, of all things. :)

DAVID TROUGHTON. ♥

"This is the TARDIS' first test flight since I got it working again." ...I don't remember anything about that from last time...
That's because it still hasn't happened, though he thinks he has. Poor Three.

ALPHA CENTAURI. ♥ Yes, I have lots of capslocky love for this serial. Ysanne Churchman said she was instructed to voice Alpha Centauri as a "gay civil servant". (And I remember poor David Troughton had to voice it in the Big Finish Companion Chronicle The Prisoner of Peladon and ow, his poor voice.)

I remember that anecdote when I read Lis' book. :(

So to make things weirder, I just realized that Alpha Centauri's cape kinda looks like a broken condom. #costumingjustcantwin
o_O

Jo, are you having an oh-no-he's-hot moment too? Because King Peladon says he wants to speak to you again "less formally."
Yup, she is. *grins* And that reminds me of the audio commentaries of The Three Doctors, where Katy told Nick Courtney ( ... )

Actually, I immediately thought of that icon when I saw Jo make that face :)

Oh man, I'll have to listen to Prisoner of Peladon now...

And that reminds me of the audio commentaries of The Three Doctors, where Katy told Nick Courtney about how she and David were crushing on each other like crazy while filming this but were both too shy to make any move.
JESUS CHRIST THAT IS ACTUALLY THE MOST PRECIOUS PIECE OF TRIVIA FOR THIS SERIAL I COULD'VE POSSIBLY HEARD. I'll have to dig out my copy of The Three Doctors and listen to that commentary now (I rewatched it recently with my mom because I really wanted to show her a Brigadier/UNIT story. She asked me if Jo and Benton wound up together :) )

I feel obligated to ship Jo and Cliff because they're canonical, even though it's been several years since I've seen The Green Death and I remember shipping them then, but obviously they really had something going if they were able to get seven kids out of it.

Oh wow, you got some EXCELLENT Jo faces out of that picspam.

That's probably one of my favourite Jo faces, so the icon was inevitable. So adorable. :)

It's definitely worth it. It's set between the two Peladon stories in the planet's chronology, and between Green Death and Time Warrior in Three's personal timeline, which I think works wonderfully, particularly regarding the Ice Warriors. Also, because it's audio they do something to Alpha Centauri that I've seen others of its species do in novels but which, at the time of this serial, was impossible to achieve - its skin changes colours according to its feelings, like a bit talking fidgery mood ring. :P

All the commentaries Nick is in are definitely worth it.

I've always felt the writers handled the relationship between Jo and Cliff quite well. This and Susan and David in Dalek Invasion of Earth are the only two departures where the companion is written out to get married that don't feel rushed or tacked on. The seven kids and their adventurous lifestyle are definite signs that she made a good choice ( ... )

Just went to the Big Finish site and bought it (along with the pre-order of the Collector's Edition of The Light at the End). So, it was thunderstorming here while I was listening to the trailer, and right after someone said "GET DOWN, YOUR MAJESTY!" there was HUGE crash of thunder right outside. Perfect timing :)

I think the only Nick Courtney commentary I've heard so far was the one with Peter Purves for The Daleks' Master Plan on Lost in Time. I remember one of them telling the other that they felt their manliness was being impeded on by the others' presence. It was great, and kept me company during a long wait for a plane to board.

I actually like how Vicki's was handled, because she and Troilus get to spend several scenes throughout The Myth Makers building up a rapport before the end.
