"I eat" is probably my favourite line in the entire thing.

So one of the resistance fighters is describing the collapse of Earth and One just stands there...smiling.
The director should have given better instructions, I think.

The disguise-yourself-as-an-enemy-drone ploy results in a very funny scene in the movie version, with young Wilf Bernard Cribbins pretending to be a Roboman. (The movie also teaches us that Robomen only eat jellybeans.)

The guy in the wheelchair is going to face the Daleks head-on in the middle of the street. This man is truly hardcore.
For plot reasons related to the original plot, Dortmun has to be hardcore. You see, originally he was meant to have a 12-year-old daughter, Saida, who was to be Susan's replacement in the show, so his sacrifice was to be both a poignant moment and a reason for her to be accepted aboard the TARDIS. Eventually, the powers that be came up with Vicki and removed Saida from this script, putting Jenny in her place instead.

And this is why history is important, kids: you can use it ( ... )

That line just reminded me of that "im a tiger" icon with "i climb, i roar, i eat, i wash" etc.

I'm planning on doing commentaries for the movies at some point. I keep forgetting that Wilf Bernard Cribbins was in "this" one :/

I wonder if that orphaned-by-Daleks plot was what eventually lead to Victoria's introduction?

Jo getting together with Cliff at the end of The Green Death didn't surprise me much, it was the fact that they got MARRIED so quickly that made me go "wat."

Ooo, recaps! *goes to look*

I think that might be a strong possibility. It's such a logical explanation for a young companion I'm surprised it wasn't done more.

And this is one of those "Why Classic Who is awesome even without decent FX" moments.

Am I right in thinking that all the classic Dalek stories you've seen so far have been with One?

Right. This is only the second Classic Dalek serial I've seen (the first one being The Daleks). I've got Genesis of the Daleks coming up on Netflix sometime in the next few weeks, though.

I REALLY need to see some One stories! D: I've seen part of the famous speech though, ofc, because they show it at the start of 'The Five Doctors'.

Random question: they keep talking about going to Bedfordshire; do any of my British watchers know of any major significance of that area?
Don't think so XD It's just a county somewhere. Maybe in THE FUTURE it will be more significant!

I'm still trying to figure out when I'm finally going to do The Five Doctors. Probably after the Black Guardian Trilogy. Which One stories have you seen so far?

Uh, so far, I've only seen 'The Edge of Destruction' all the way through (Susan with scissors might have been the creepiest thing ever) and part one of 'The Sensorites', plus a few odd clips on Youtube...

I haven't gelled very well with One yet, so I'm more keen to watch the serials of other Doctors first. 'The Unearthly Child' is very high on my to-view list, though. It HAS to be XD

I recommend The Reign of Terror, for the AWESOME French get-up that One picks up about halfway through. You know that hat with the giant feather that Colin Baker has in Arc of Infinity? Yeah. Almost like that, but with a bigger feather. Also, his first appearance with it involves him striding into...I think it's a prison...and just out-awesoming everybody. And Planet of Giants is a fun romp with lots of shrinkage (literally).

And yes. Watch An Unearthly Child. Because it's An Unearthly Child. Actually, I recommend watching the Pilot episode as well so you can see how evil the Doctor was originally going to be.
