Don't you just hate it when your parents make you feel bad about being friends with your best friend by constantly complaining about them? I do. Plus, it's not like the friend in question (howinsidious) is all that bad. It could be worse; I could be hanging out with people who spend all of their spare time getting drunk or stoned ( Read more... )

DTS doesn't automatically mean that everything will be louder. If anything, DTS offers really good silences, without the hums, clicks, and pops you would encounter from a regular optical soundtrack ( ... )

We had Crash. I had no idea what the heck it was about, I think I asked three of my managers to explain it before I got it, as it was in our rotation well before I started ushering, and therefore doing theater checks.

As far as what I hear, it's neither silence or white noise. It's something I can tell is speech, but I hear it as a string of what sounds like gibberish. I kept having to ask my friend that I went with "What did he say?" It was the same when I would go in and check Lords of Dogtown, but I have a feeling it was just the thick Californian accents of the characters.

Eh. Our theater uses MovieTunes, and I'm so angry that didn't change when we went from GKC to Carmike. So we get a grab bag of country, broadway showtunes, movie soundtrack cuts, and popular upcoming releases. Suffice to say, I'm now really really sick of U2's "Vertigo" album.

Have I mentioned I really, really dislike Carmike?

Not surprised. Even when I lived in Ohio, I heard they were real pricks.

If you ever leave the Soo and go to a city where there's a Landmark, I'll try to put in a good word for you. I can always lie and say I was a regular customer at your place (which, technically, I am...for the one and a half weeks a year I spend in the U.P.) and that you were an exemplary employee.

Anything to get you away from lame corporate masters. Not that Landmark can be any less trying. But at least if you email Mark Cuban, he answers you personally.
