Hey-just popping here with a little piece of Clara-related… mindfuckery. Please forgive the incoherence in advance ;) I keep thinking Clara’s mother has to be important in figuring out who she is. ( Read on… )
Just jumping in v. briefly as I am working on a post of my own.
But I thought you might be interested in my Oswin Theory (which is really all about her mother. Could still hold true... *crosses fingers*)
Re. Clara's origins, then this is all we got in The Snowmen:
LARA: Huh! All my stories are true.
DIGBY: Like how you were born behind the clock face of Big Ben?
CLARA: Accounting for my acute sense of time.
FRANCESCA: And you invented fish.
CLARA: Because I dislike swimming alone.
As I stay miles away from spoilers I shall tiptoe away from the last issue, but generally then I agree - if we know who her mother is, then we know who *she* is!
But I thought you might be interested in my oswin theory (which is really all about her mother. Could still hold true... *crosses fingers*) OMFG, can I just say already how much I love this theory? I'll comment more thoroughly on the page itself, but… -sold-

CLARA: Because I dislike swimming alone. Thanks a lot! That's a tidbit I love, but it's not what I was thinking about… Yeah, I must have INVENTED that stuff. I could have sworn she was talking to her dad/mentioning her dad, but if she does talk to some man, he's not referred to as her family. It's the landlord actually! Ugh… Also, because of you I actually looked up where to find episode transcripts because that must be /so/ useful to check episode details when you don't have the time to go through the actual ep more or less blindly, and found a great website, so you just indirectly gave me a huge help…

1- There was a lot of parent/children imagery in that ep, so there's probably something significant there, but I've no idea what. Re: birthdays in general -- Clara's birth/death dates are on her gravestone, while, say, the Ponds' weren't on theirs. Then again, theirs probably weren't as meta as hers. *g*
Do we believe in coincidences? Since jacket!Doctor in S5 turned out to be an actual plot point, I never ignore coincidences!
2- Here is when my imagination kicks in… =P Did anyone else hear a reference to Clara’s mother, father or just whoever the hell she lives in in the Snowmen episode? I think she blamed 'family illness' for being away from her governess job, but that's all I can remember, sorry! I do know several people mentioned the bar owner maybe being related to her because it was a family business? No idea if that theory has any foundation, though.
3- I was just reading quickly, so I’m not sure anymore, but there was that one line when Clara told the Doctor her mother had died. Hm, those spoiler pages seem to wink out

Hm, those spoiler pages seem to wink out almost immediately, so that's probably why you can't find it? Yup, that's likely.
(And not to put my mitts all over your post, but I'll just quietly add our shiny new spoiler + St. John tags!) Go right ahead, and sorry I didn't think about that myself! Still not too used to handling tags ;P

Hmm, that's true - never thought about that! And apple symbolism was so important for Amy's arc, just as eggs seem to be to Clara's...
The more subtle meta-ish mirroring there is, the more I think it's all deliberate. With some effort you can even compare the basics of Clara's two deaths to the Doctor's first two -- if she dies a third time from radiation of some sort, then... I don't know, actually, but it would be interesting.
