Here are a few comments I'd like to make about what you have said. Firstly, most illegals are hired by branches of major corperations: UPS, DHL ect as sorters, janitors, other grunt work jobs that they can pay very little for. Those that work these jobs do actually get a regular paycheck and that check does have taxes taken out of it. These companies regularly pay there pittance of a fine and continue buisness as usual. You want to stop illegal immigration make it really hurt the businesses who hire illegal immigrants. They are committing a bigger crime than the immigrants themselves. They are trying to cheat the system, while the immigrants are simply getting work where they can find it. There still are a large number who are agricultural day laborers, handimen, gardeners ect that get paid cash, and not very much, that are not paying taxes. They do get a semblence of free health care, but it is the same care that those of us without insurance rely on. Its emergency care only. Life threatening issues, a hospital cannot refuse ( ... )

As usual I expected to get some feedback from you, and you make very good points. I am not sure about a great many things, and on the topic of illegal aliens the government is really pissing me off. They pass laws and then there is very little enforcement. In fact I have heard of two cases where the INS raided a business deporting a number of illegal aliens. The business owner turned and called their member of congress and bitched. Following this the congressman then turned and reamed the INS for doing it's job and enforcing the law that the congressman voted for in the first place ( ... )

Again another very intelligent person with some very good points. The way I see making "American English" an official language is I don't care either way really, but if I can't understand someone and they can't understand me then what's the point? Forcing government forms to be multilingual is where I have the problem as there is still a loss in translation from one language to the next. Futher if the U.S. does recognize multiple languages then all legislation needs to be translated as well. Forget all the criminal law translation that would be needed, simply translating the tax laws alone would be a major undertaking into one language let alone multiple languages. Further if a person who only speaks say italian were to be elected to a government position this person is going to need a translator for everyday work, and if this person were elected to Congress or even the White House how would this person be able to deliver speaches or function effectively in their job ( ... )
