Food! Glorious Food!

No, it's not what you think.  I have no yummy food pics to display.  What I offer instead, friends, is a movie rec and then some.  Earlier this week I saw the charming Julie and Julia.  Because the movie was recently released and had a big marketing campaign, I'm certain you already know the basic subject matter.

Isn't that a great movie??? I loved, loved, loved how Meryl Streep portrayed Julia Child! It was so spot on, just like I imagine her. :D

Can't help you with movie or TV shows, but right after the movie, I started reading My Life in France by Julia Child, which talks mostly of her years in France until shortly after Mastering the Art of French Cooking comes out. It makes excellent, entertaining, and delightful reading!

Thanks. Recs for books are equally appreciated. :)

One of my fave movies is Tortilla Soup which is about a man with three daughters. He's a chef that has lost his taste because of his wife's passing. It is highly entertaining as we see more of the college rebel, the saint church goer, and the active business woman as well as the father's re-flourishing love life and cooking career.
I'm not very good with reviews, but this movie always makes my mouth water.

I checked it out at IMDb.

Hector Elizondo? Yum! Another sexy, bald man. That alone has piqued my interest.

Like Water for Chocolate. Both movie and book are excellent, and uber-romantic.

I love Anthony Bourdain. He'd be magnificent in bed, I just know it. And Ina Garten can invite me to her house for Sunday brunch anytime.

For sex appeal, Anthony Bourdain, but for laughs, Adam Richman.

Thanks for the rec. When I drag my sorry butt over to BlockBuster, I can check it out. :)

I'm not such a foodie, but if I ever did watch TV, food shows are programming that can catch my interest. I just heard a story on NPR where they said people in US society claim not to have time to cook, yet we have tons of time to watch the proliferation of food shows!
And one last thing - loved J&J, loved Meryl and Amy in it, but Stanley Tucci was captivatingly sexy. And I think it was in great part because he was so obviously head over heels in love with his wife! :)

Julia and Paul, as portrayed by Meryl and Stanley, were so cute and so much in love. Julie and her husband (?) were adorable as well, despite her bitchiness at times. Boy, she was prone to successive tantrums. LOL

I so, so, so want to see this movie. Will probably have to wait for the 2nd run theater, but I know I'll enjoy it.

I really adore Meryl Streep. She is such an amazing character actress.

Rachael Ray annoys the hell out of me, but I love Ina Garten. Her voice is like warm caramel. And Paula Deen packs so much innuendo into her shows, food porn doesn't even begin to describe it, esp. on Paula's Party. :D

Ms. Streep has another film to be released this fall or winter. It's Complicated also stars Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Should be another good one. She's in a class all her own.
