Crisp. Cold. Angular like razors, fitted perfectly to him, trimmed. That described the image he was projecting to the school and thusly the Italian pinstriped suit he'd spent what would be a ludicrous amount of money for a normal student on. As a particularly morbid touch, he'd had a live praying mantis cast in platinum and pinned to his breast. It was a reminder: I am the top predator here.

And with his lovely bodyguard on his arm (he'd drilled it into her before the event: Look happy! We're supposed to tempt them.), he certainly felt as if the evening was going to go his way. Little did he know...

Any reservations Elena might have had about the dress had disappeared the moment she had gotten her whole look together. Her bangs (which had gotten practically symmetrical, they were growing so long) were held back away from her face for once, and the stylist Lelouch had hired (yet another thing she had tried to fight and lost) had done an exquisite job with makeup.

She looked stunning. She felt naked. The prom had metal detectors, of course, so her normal duties as a bodyguard were for once superseded by her role as a student - it was not an experience she enjoyed.

Add that to the Prom Queen fiasco, and Elena had almost backed out of the whole deal at the last minute. Only the thought of the absurd amount of money she was wearing (she couldn't get over the fact that her dress had pearls on it, for Christ's sake) had kept her from doing so ( ... )

Lelouch was himself trying his best to keep his glances at her controlled, without devolution into leering. He had to remind himself that this was the same Elena who left piles of dirty laundry out like they were frigging art projects, who sat on the couch doing her finger and toe nails until the house reeked of polish, who never washed a dish until a day had passed, who still used the least sexy, most clinical, and above all cheap as fuck kind of soap and shampoo. He thought of her new glamorousness as one of his better pieces of propaganda, and so was determined not to fall for it himself.

"Because people must be tempted and you are the temptation." In the guise of shifting to adjust his suit (which basically adjusted itself, so well was it fit to him), he reached into a secret pocket and palmed something. A ceramic pocketknife passed into her hand, its material proof against metal detectors. This was more for her comfort than his. Lelouch knew Elena almost never went anywhere without a weapon of some sort. It would add a small ( ... )

Elena felt her shoulders relax as Lelouch passed her the knife, palming it and slipping it into the small pocket she had demanded be stitched into the dress at the small of her back. She probably wouldn't have cause to use it, but she hadn't been without a weapon by choice since the kidnapping.

At his words, though, she made a face. "You've used that line before," she informed him, determinately not thinking about dancing. At all. Especially not the fact that contact would be involved. Close contact. "If you're going to repeat yourself, have the grace not to do it with the same girl." She was also not thinking about the last time he had used that line with her. NOT thinking about it.

Vegeta arrived, dressed sharp in a suit. He had no choice. Frieza had arranged for him to be watched, and was told that if he didnt show up, it would sully the diplomatic advances that his God Father had worked so hard for. Rolling his eyes, he went inside.

Right. Frieza had worked hard for it. The heir couldnt wait to come of age so he could destroy him, and this fake 'diplomacy' he was creating. He was uncomfortable, but tried to present himself as more or less sophisticated and presentable. He'd play this game and leave. There was no need to drag this on more than he had to.

Woe was Chika Ogiue. Oh if only she hadn't forgotten that doujin...or had the courage to take it back...Then...Then that terrible Hiruma wouldn't have been able to force her into a lolita catgirl vampire cosplay dress, throw her onto the arm of her "date", a sweaty american otaku whose eyes were perpetually hidden behind thick glasses and kept calling her 'Ogi-chan-hime' while heavily breathing, then abandon her to her fate with only a snickering look over his shoulder as he danced with his date. She wished desperately that Ohno were here, so she could trade places with her. This was always her kind of thing.

Well, all she had to do was attend. Maybe noone would notice her and she could sneak out unnoticed when Hiruma got too absorbed with his chesty redhead. That was her plan anyway as she tried to meld with the wall....

Howell crossed the dance floor with some difficulty, gesturing for the DJ to turn down the music and hand him the microphone.

"Attention ladies and gentleman," he said, looking out over the crowd. "If I could please have the nominees for Prom Court gather over near me, we'll be conducting the crowning shortly."

Trevor gulped when he heard the announcement. He was the only boy in the princess nominations, something that still didn't quite sit well with him. But, he kept telling himself how cool it would be to beat out all the girls. At least that's what Gert told him.

He stood up and slid his long coat back on. He smiled lightly when he turned to his boyfriend. "Shall we?"

Elena had to struggle to keep a smile on her face - she thought this whole Prom Queen thing was a superficial popularity contest, and she hadn't wanted to run. She knew she hadn't gotten elected, so in her mind there was no reason for her to be over here at all.

If Lelouch hadn't nominated them (and he had assured her that was not the case when she had yelled at him on the subject), Elena had a fairly good idea who had. Nina was lucky Elena hadn't seen her yet, or Elena might have shoved her into the punch bowl.

Misuzu shyly came up to Howell with Zack leading the way as she clung to him shyly. She had never ever done this before..especially standing in front of everyone was a little nervous.
