The past few months had felt like something of a limbo for Lelouch. Both he and the family were laying low, plotting their next moves. Maybe there was what one would call a ceasefire.

Things had also seemingly ground to a standstill with Kula. She'd been busy lately and they rarely got to see each other. He found himself actually missing her, a novel emotion which he took out, examined, dissected.

The leaves swirled and the air was crisp as he stepped out of the doors. When he saw her, he called her name and swept her up in an embrace, an uncharacteristically affectionate gesture for someone who usually hated touching people.

To say Kula was caught off-guard would be an understatement; to say she was upset, incorrect. She turned just in time to be caught up in his arms, and without thinking, returned the gesture, wrapping her slender arms about his shoulders, squeezing him closely. She giggled the way a teenage girl does when caught in a moment of pure happiness.

"Mm!" She sighed as she relaxed her grip. "I... I've missed you, Lelouch. I'm sorry I've been so busy... I..." She blinked a few times. "Let's go get smoothies... or coffee... or something." She gave him a bit of a joking smile. "I've been a terrible girlfriend, haven't I?"

If someone had caught Lelouch off guard like that he would have jerked away, maybe reached for Gawain. Kula was yet more trusting, and it both pleased and concerned him.

"Let's go to cafe Veranda. I'll impress you by ordering my multisyllabic coffee in the romance language of your choice." He said and took her hand as they walked.

"Stop it," Kula laughed. "Like you really need to impress me." She gave his hand a squeeze. "But if you really want to... can you order in Romanian?" She teased of course, not expecting him to actually do so. She was just happy to be with him.

"Do you think I'll get a good part in Mr. Palazzo's musical?" She switched subjects abruptly as they walked, keeping her mind moving. "I got a part last time, but I don't know... he's so strange, wouldn't you say?"
