A hint of bitchiness

FF. net Reviewer who can't use proper grammar thinks that my ficlet "would of been better" if I hadn't "used so much repetition", surely, you know what an anaphora is, right? Now, you're perfectly entitled to dislike a rhetorical device, but complaining about repetition in an anaphora is like... complaining about action in an action movie, or ( Read more... )

Me thinks your lying : your not amused. #badgrammarhurts

Oui, parfois, les reviewers, qu'on appelle pourtant de nos voeux, nous donne vraiment envie de reprendre nos billes et de leur dire : "t'es trop con pour jouer avec moi. Retourne à tes pogs !"

No, for realz. I is really amused.

Hmmmph!! I don't like people who point out grammatical errors that don't exist. I don't like people who say "I could of" and I don't approve of people who think they know what they're talking about but don't. Rather like the rather stupid reviewer who dared to appear so superior! Grrrrrr!!

I think that about covers it for now. ;)
*hugs*

There, there *pats you*

To be fair, my entry was a bit mean and pedantic sarcastic. The reviewer may not know what an anaphora is, no shame and no big deal. What made me roll my eyes is that when you think about it for two seconds, it's obvious that the repetition is deliberate. You're entitled not to like it obviously, but no, the fic wouldn't have been "better" with less repetition: it would have been... not what I wanted to write. I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at "Meh, me not fan of this kind of style" but "would of been better with less repetition"... ahem, lead to mean and sarcastic entry, I iz afraid :-p

I'm always wary when pointing a grammatical error because pointing an error that doesn't exist or making one in your comment... quite embarrassing *g*

*is calmer now*

I don't blame you for your comments though. You're right that it would have taken just a few seconds thought to realise that the repition was deliberate and in my opinion can only enhance a writing style when used well. But suggesting that the fic would have been "better" without it is just a pile of crap!! I'm getting irritated again!! :)

I think you're right though and commenting about not being a fan of the style is acceptable. Talking rubbish like the commenter did is not! I don't think this entry was mean at all!

I'm also wary of doing the same since it's just possible we might get it wrong and it is very embarrassing! :)

You are perfectly allowed to be bitchy. True, an opinion is always based on personal tastes even when the reviewer is a professsional critic and able to use correct grammer, but you can only do so much when the only answer must be: Yeah, but that is the whole point!!! *hands you a fluffy cushion to bang your head against* - Better? ;)
