Coincidence

May 30, 2008 13:30

It's always strange running into someone in an unexpected place. Last night, I ran into the Redheaded Girl at the airport. I was on my way to Chicago and she was returning from Green Bay. We didn't talk long because, as usual, I was running very late and about to miss my flight. It's a very short flight to Chicago - from the time the plane ( Read more... )

I agree he has the right kind of look. He is thin and has the right kind of nose. He's very cute actually, lol.

In general, yes, but not in these 2 pictures! He cleans up nicely, though. ;-)

In the second picture, he reminds me of Jim Carrey. Now that's a thought to make you lose sleep.

Seriously, though, I think Alan Rickman is a fabulous Snape. He looks a little old to me, but his voice is so wonderful.

David Tennant looks nothing like the Barty Crouch in the books, but he was scary as hell. He can turn into sort of a Scottish Matt Frewer at times. He doesn't really look like any of the Death Eaters to me, but then again, neither does Helena Bonham Carter.

Actually, there's a scene in the Doctor Who episode, "New Earth", in which he reminds me very much of Jim Carrey - more in what he's doing with his facial expression than how he looks. I can't really see Jim Carrey in this second picture, though.

Who's Matt Frewer?

That's a good point about the resemblence to Jim Carrey - maybe that's why I associate David Tennant more with humor than with a serious role like Snape. Even as Barty, he does the "flicking tongue" thing a little too much, but I still think he captures that character really well.

I love Alan Rickman as Snape. David Tennant's voice doesn't have the same effect on me. *lol* And really, it's the eyes, too - AR has Snapey eyes, for lack of a way to put it into proper words. And AR has the sarcastic facial expressions, too. So it's alot of things with him.

Well, I don't dislike Alan Rickman, but he's too old. That's my only complaint, but it's significant to me (as much as anything in the films would be significant, that is).

I figured that was a feature carried over between Brendan Gleeson and David Tennant to make the point to the audience that Professor Moody was really Barty Crouch, Jr. Brendan Gleeson does it, but less so, which makes sense. Fake!Moody wouldn't want to give himself away with a facial tick. *lol*

Those are nice screencaps! I think he played Barty Crouch really well, with just the right attitude. :)

I love that song "Red Right Hand" - it's awesome!

I like that Nick Cave song - I remember first hearing it on the X-Files as well. ;) You know who's a big Nick Cave fan? corvus_coronis - she listens to him a lot, I think. ;)

*nods* - before diverting my attention to the HP fandom in '05, I spent a lot of my net time around the Nick Cave & Einsturzende Neubauten sites. I have some nice memories of sitting on the Neubauten.org webcasts while chatting with the other supporters, & occasionally someone from the band would pop into the chatroom if he had a free moment. Once, even Warren Ellis from the Dirty 3/Bad Seeds popped in for a couple of lines - I think all of us raucous fen might have made him cautious :)

Trivia snippet about the Red Right Hand song, a few years back Nick Cave apparently mentioned in an interview that he was approached by a feminine hygeine company to use the song in a tampon ad, but though he was tempted his (artistic) Muse 'put her foot down', or something like that, & he declined.

That's really funny...I can't imagine that song making me want to buy tampons! He was so right to refuse! *rotfl*
