Phrases, sentences, snippets that didn't make it to the actual stories...

A Means to an End

Alternate ending

“I am sorry,” he repeats. “For everything.”

She watches him fold and pocket the papers and when she shots back, “I hope it was worth it,” she knows he won’t answer her.

No Man's Land

Michael looks at him, licks his lips and doesn’t say a word.

---

That being said, fingers are perfectly fine as long as they had not been dipped into some sticky-sugary substance - “Put the fucking honey down, Michael!” - and various accessories might be acceptable depending on the mood of the moment. Just... no mouth.

---

“What are you doing here?”

“Do you mean, what am I doing here,” he nods at the room around them, “or what am I doing here?” then licks at Lincoln’s groin.

Blank Page

Not used because I lazily didn’t feel like writing a tidbit for each of the characters

Theodore wishes that he could go back to a period in his life when there was no snow, no pain, no hate and just a little love. Then he realizes that indeed, there was a period in his life when there was no snow but as for the rest... nothing more than wishful thinking.

They Dance

He has a flash of Lincoln’s mouth and wonders what the heck it’s doing right now that elicits so much noise from the girl.

---

The --th time, it’s because Lincoln deserves it because of the fourth time. He’s so drunk that he won’t remember any of it anyway. Michael feels bad about it. Really he does. About three seconds tops before he kisses him and two days after he did.

Michael pretends that nothing happened and he thinks that Lincoln has no need to pretend: he really doesn’t remember.

---

“I’ve been pretending before,” he assures Lincoln as if this admission could make things better. “At the museum. The party. Even tonight. I’ve been pretending.” He sighs as an ultimate and late shudder shakes him. “I tried to warn you but you just wouldn’t...”

---

When Michael looks at him, a small smile curls the corner of his mouth; his face leans against Lincoln’s thigh, his nose brushing the seam of his pants. The enormity of what they’re doing sinks on Lincoln but it’s already too late - he could back off, he won’t - and he realizes that, no matter the answer, he’ll roll with it at least for now.

In the Mirror

Alternate ending

She tugs him forward to give him a quick kiss on the lips, but he shakes his head. “Don’t you smudge my lipstick!”

Double-Edged Sword

“I need to go to the bathroom,” he muttered.

Michael watched him with an intensity that was a bit unsettling, even though Lincoln was accustomed to be the focus of his attention. “No, you don’t.”

“Yes I do. And the sooner the better.”

Michael grabbed him by his belt, forcing him to stop, and he held onto it. Lincoln froze. He could have pushed him away, shoved Michael and freed himself in a blink of an eye. He wouldn’t, especially right now, and Michael knew that as well as he did.

“Let me do it,” Michael offered.

---

Lincoln felt his throat constrict dumbly and his heart swell even more dumbly. Damn him. That kind of statement was precisely the reason why they were doing what they were doing.

“Linc?” He looked up at Michael smirking at him. “Don’t worry. I won’t ask you to take it up the ass.”

“Don’t be crass.” Still. It was good to know. “So,” he insisted foolishly, “what are you doing with that stuff?”

A devious smile curled Michael’s lips. “I think about you,” he retorted, and Lincoln stilled.

Right. Michael was right - he didn’t want to know.

---

Draft for a dialogue that would have taken place when Lincoln accepts to stay a bit longer

“Jeez, Michael, you...”
“I love you.”
“You’re like this old perv who could never get it down.”
“Priapus?”
“Whatever.”

---

Alternate ending #1

But never in his life would he have imagined that it would get so much out of hand - would lead him to ask the wrong things of the wrong persons for the right reason, and end up in a fucking mess because of that; would lead Michael to get himself locked up in a high security prison - and get both of them here. Lincoln needed a few years to understand that the fucking, almost funny and sweet crying-and-smiling thing was a two-edged sword, but in the end, he got it.

Alternate ending #2

But never in his life would he have imagined that it would get so much out of hand, would lead him to ask the wrong things of the wrong persons for the right reason, and that he would end up in a fucking mess because of that; that the dynamics would reverse and lead Michael to get himself locked up in a high security prison; that both of them would get there. Lincoln needed a few years to understand that the fucking, almost funny and sweet crying-and-smiling thing was a double-edged sword, but in the end, he got it.
