LOL, I think we've repeatedly, on numerous occasions and in several different formats agreed on that issue! At least there was a hint of things not being quite right for Jane at the end of the episode - when she returned to her apartment - and it didn't seem too OOC for her to try to put on a brave face, I just don't think that brave face would've lasted for long.
Thanks for giving us something plausible that the producers couldn't. Vive la fanfique!
Indeed. And you are more than welcome.

Your inclusion of that stake imagery (is that what was from the book?) was chilling and effective. Thank God Jane did manage to escape the clutches of Hoyt and the Apprentice before *that*.
Most importantly, though, it made perfect sense that Jane would stay with Maura (again - yay!) the night of the attack; her apartment was totally trashed, after all.
“Jane, you have so many clothes at my house, it’s probably time you had your own drawer…”
*big grin*
This was beautifully written all the way through. Thank you so much for another great pre-slash Jane/Maura story!
PS: I only detected one raging Britishism - will msg you :-).

Aww, that's very sweet and the script chats really did push me into writing this (I'd had the idea floating around for a while.)

Yes, that was from the book. There's a longer scene at the actual crime scene in the novel, where Jane finds the clearing and that image really stuck with me, hence stealing it to use for my own purposes!

Heh, it's a pleasure. These two are a lot of fun to write.
And thanks for the Brit-pick, I edited accordingly.
