Binds and Masterminds

Could someone give me a quick run down of some good Mastermind binds and why they're useful? Right now, I mostly just dogpile of of my people on one guy with the Attack/Aggressive button that's already supplied and wanted to see if there was a better way of doing it ( Read more... )

The way Bodyguard Mode works, as I understand it, is that if you get hurt while in that mode, they take part of they take some of your damage in addition to their own and you take less.

I know what it does, I'm more wanting to know how to make it work properly in the game. With the way I'm running now, I click on a guy and press the pre-made Attack button in my tray. I know how to put pet in Follow/Defensive mode, but when I've done it in the past, they seem inattentive to everything around them. When they finally do get into a fight (if they do!), they are generally haphazzard about who and what they attack, reminding me more of Controller pets than a pet-class AT.

It works a lot better with ranged pets (robots, mercs) than melee.

I use the Kheldian keybinds (too early to look for a link but they're in the CoV guides section) and I like them a lot. I've also set up a bind for target_enemy_near. So most of the time I target the closest enemy, then set all the pets after it on defensive-attack. they revert to defensive follow when they've killed him and come back to me. Rinse, repeat. I find it keeps them from aggroing too many mobs nicely.

I can set them attacking much more quickly than if I had to use the mouse.

My personal MM binds are:

left: follow me
down: go to
right: attack
ctrl+left: passive
ctrl+down: defensive
ctrl+right: aggressive
up: upgrade
ctrl+up: equip

Thus I can control them all from a very small spot on my keyboard. I had the summons bound to ctrl+numpad 1-3 (I use the numberpad to move) but ended up taking that off to use those for other things.

I user the num pad binds which are very easy to use. They are oh so helpful in getting my bruiser next to the target as he hads a tendency to just want to stand back with the rest hurling. The num pad binds are great because it allows you to control them as a whole or as their individual set; you can even set it up to by individual name. All with only using 10 keys.

The bodyguard bind is: /bind x "petcom_all Follow Defensive"
