Ghost Towns

This DXP weekend brought something to light for me. Since the character transfers were implimented, a lot of the servers are ghost towns and this appeared to be especially noticable (at least to me) this event. I'm wondering should the Dev's consider merging some of the servers. I know some player like low server populations -- at time I do as ( Read more... )

Let me rephrase: I was playing City on those so-called 'ghost town' servers, and what time I could play I always had a full team, and that was JUST ljers. You /obviously/ weren't playing the same game I was this weekend.

I think that server mergers will not happen until the low population servers start costing NC soft more money than they are making. Until then they have no reason to even consider it.

All but three of the servers were either yellow or closed to new logins when I checked last night.

I played most of the weekend and I played on quite a few servers and it was just difficult to get teams going or getting invites. At least to me, I was only able to get on teams frequently on Freedom, Virtue and Infinity.

This may be because a lot of subscribers (hard to call them players) were being powerleveled in PI. I think someone said one of the high-population servers had as many as four instances of that zone.

Yeah, I definitely saw Peregrine Island 4 on Virtue twice; I'm sure Freedom had it as bad and worse.

Unless they suddenly start hemorrhaging money, I don't see server merges happening in the foreseeable future. This is a GOOD thing. I like not being on one of the uber-popular servers.

As others have said, I doubt that they are going to be merging servers anytime soon, if at all, and that's just as well. Still, you're right, with the transfer service in place, it seems some low-pop servers are even lower, now.
